Stage
I
First, we fell in love with this new font and accompanying
dingbats named Day
of the Dead, based on the work of José
Guadalupe Posada. Next, our friend and collaborator Jim
Johnson uttered this surprisingly pithy quote during a casual
conversation. Lastly, our favorite holiday is just around
the corner. Add it all up, and you get this month's VisoVerbo
winner! Based on the Mexican celebration of death in the midst
of life (and vice versa) during the Días
de los Muertos, we began with the quote, skulls, and a
stripe pattern.

Stage II
Playing with the stripes in the background, we stumbled upon
this "wriggly" effect which is reminiscent of textiles,
particularly the Mexican serape.
We threw in some more skulls, but it's still too tame for
the sentiment.
