Creative process for January 2007 design

Stage 1   Stage 2

Stage I
What a perfect way to start off the New Year—with a VisoVerbo quote that seems to mock the VisoVerbo tradition. Do your worst! We'll make good of this yet. We start with Heberling Casual, an exceptionally cool typeface, that drips with French wit. Those lowercase Ys are hard to read and that capital V on "Voltaire" doesn't do the man justice. Onward!

Stage II
We modified the Ys to increase legibility and swopped the boring V with one from Monte Carlo Script. We made the verse two lines to show off all those interesting type forms and prepared to add a little spice.

Final
With changes in scale and color, the composition becomes much more interesting. Curves lead into curves, words lay (or lie) on top of words. And what's up with this weird shape in the background? No idea. Looks like melting ice. Perhaps it represents wishful thinking? Hope you enjoyed this month's excursion into VisoVerbo Land — stay warm!
