Stage
I
The original quote we were working with was "Trust yourself.
Think for yourself. Act for yourself. Speak for yourself. Be
yourself. Imitation is suicide." Rather than repeat the
word "yourself" several times, we decided to have
"yourself" be the focal point of the design (aren't
you the center of the universe, after all??) and have the verbs
be like spokes off of it. But looking at this first selection
for typeface we shuddered and moved on.... |

Stage II
Here we changed to a classic typeface for our main verbiage:
Trajan. Drawn by Carol
Twombly, it's based on the letterforms from the ancient
Roman Trajan
Column. It's a beautiful face and has the elegance and
height needed to make a statement. The companion script, Bickham
Script, picks up on that elegance and formal structure while
giving some contrast through its script form. We're getting
there....
