Bloomington, Ind—Cairril Mills, principal of Cairril.com Design
& Marketing, has been appointed to the Indiana
University School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) Master
of Information Science Advisory Board in Bloomington, Indiana.
Unlike many schools, the SLIS program offers master’s degrees in
both library science and information science, in addition to an array
of joint degree programs. Students can study digital libraries, information
design, web development, and archives and digital preservation. It was
recently ranked #1 in the nation in terms of faculty and program productivity
for the second successive time.
“We wanted feedback about our program from people who would understand
the work that our graduates do, would value SLIS’s MIS program,
and who could give us advice that we would value and act on,” said
Howard Rosenbaum, Associate Professor of Information Science and Director
of the MIS program. “We created the MIS Advisory Board to gain feedback
on changing markets and to make sure that what is being taught at SLIS
is relevant to the industry.”
In addition to Mills, other board members include John Brooks, Chief Operating
Officer, BioConvergence; Cameron
Carter, TechPoint; Craig Hickman,
ProsLink; Brian Kleber, Director,
inVenture; Carol Pendlum,
Director of Business Development, Bell
Industries; and Bill West, President, Option

The board first met in late 2006 to examine curriculum, degree requirements,
and marketing and branding of the program.
“I’m honored to join this talented board to support such a
distinguished program,” said Mills. “Our firm has been involved
with the program for the last two years and looks forward to its continued
development and positive impact on the regional economy.”
